Top Gear is a British motoring television series for the BBC that was once formerly presented by Jeremy Clarkson, Richard Hammond and James May and produced by Andy Wilman. The show, after previously being cancelled in 2001 due to low ratings, was restarted with Clarkson, a renowned host during the 1990s, Hammond, and Jason Dawe a year later, before replacing Dawe with May from Series 2 onwards. It became a worldwide hit and global phenomenon during the 2000s and first half of the '10s, before Clarkson was dismissed in March 2015 due to an assault with Oisin Tymon during the late stages of production for Series 22.
The show continues to be produced but without Clarkson, Hammond and May as presenters, and both viewership ratings and critical reception have since declined on the whole.
